Men’s Tennis Ranked Fifth Regionally As Bears Begin Play The Shaw University men’s tennis team will begin its season February 12, as they host North Greenville University at Biltmore Hill Park in Raleigh. The team comes in with high accomplishments – which lead to high expectations. The five-time reigning CIAA Tennis Champions, the Bears are predicted to finish atop the conference yet again. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (which governs college tennis) has ranked the Bears fifth in the Atlantic region in their pre-season selections. The next highest CIAA institution, Virginia State, was picked to finish tenth in the region, while Johnson C. Smith was picked 11th. The team is anchored by a strong corps of seniors, led by Fabio Falcato, picked by ITA as the tenth best player in the Atlantic Region. Milos Stankovic and Medhi Ben-Cheikh are also expected to lead the team. Junior Kalada Kienka is also expected to be a top performer. Garner High School standout Antoine Jacobs joins the squad as a freshman and is expected to make a strong contribution from the start. Biltmore Hill Park, the home of the Bears, is located at 2613 Fitzgerald Drive in Raleigh.
