COACH AKER AMONG CHOSEN FEW
ACCEPTED TO NCAA WOMEN’S COACHES ACADEMY

April 2008 Raleigh, NC – Shaw University is highly respected for its top-notch talented student-athletes. Furthermore, it is a known fact that the University quite often has its own products to evolve as premier professionals in the coaching industry. Well, Head Volleyball and Softball Coach Laura Aker fit both descriptions perfectly.

Recently, the fourth year head coach was one of 25 coaches granted acceptance to the Women’s Coaches Academy. The picked portion was plucked from a field of over 500 applicants. The apple did not fall too far from the tree as, Shaw alumnae and former volleyball and softball coach Dianthia Ford-Kee, was largely responsible for recruiting and passing the torch of coaching to Aker. Ford-Kee stated, “As the Senior Woman Administrator, I am always looking for opportunities for staff members to enhance their professional skills in their particular area. I am proud to know that the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy selected Coach Aker for this great opportunity and experience.”

Aker will travel to Atlanta, Georgia to take part in the exciting opportunity from June 7 – June 11.
