The CIAA Football Championship Game between Shaw and
Fayetteville State will broadcast in Washington, DC on WPLC-AM
1050 over the Shaw Bear Sports Radio Network. The
broadcast will take place Saturday November 6 beginning with the
pre-game show at 12:30 p.m. Shaw University has broadcast
all 10 of its regular season football games over the 10 stations
that make-up the network. Washington, DC is the eighth
largest radio market in the country.

The Shaw Bear Sports Radio Network is
in its fifth week of existence airing Shaw football game and
already there have been a slew of guests. During the
Johnson C. Smith game, Henry "Discombobulating" Jones was
interviewed at halftime. Jones, who is one of the few
black professional ring announcers and has been seen on
HBO/ESPN, was in town to promote "Shaw Homecoming Fite Nite."
Also in the third quarter Ronald "Flip" Murray stopped by and
chatted with the guys.
During the Willie E. Gary Classic, Alfonza
Carter, Director of Athletics at Shaw was interviewed, as was
Tim Brown, 1997 graduate of Shaw and CEO of Brown Realty and
Investment Corporation, the presenting sponsor of Shaw football.
During the Shaw/St. Aug's game 2004 USA Head
Olympic Men's Outdoor Track Coach George "Pup" Williams was
interviewed.
This week Eric Jackson will interview All-CIAA
volleyball student-athlete Carletta, Harrell, during the Shaw
student-athlete feature at halftime of the Shaw/Fayetteville

Network to Air Shaw vs. Livingstone Game, Quarles Featured
The Shaw Bear Sports Radio Network
will air its historic first game on Saturday August 28 when the
Bears take on the Blue Bears of Livingstone.
"We are very ecstatic to have Shaw
football on 10 stations," said Donal Ware, assistant
athletics director for sports information/marketing.
"We have a good portion of North Carolina covered as well
as Hampton Roads and Richmond and Baltimore and parts of
Washington, DC. It has been a lot of work for us to pull
everything together, but it will certainly be well worth
it."
There are currently 10 stations on the
network. All-CIAA performer Kalia Quarles will also make
history being the first ever student-athlete featured on the
network. Eric Jackson interviews Quarles during the
halftime show.

Shaw Adds Four Stations to Network
The University reaches a potential
six to eight million fans for the ‘04 football season
The Shaw University Department of
Intercollegiate Athletics has finalized agreements with four
additional stations on the Shaw Bear Sports Radio
Network, bringing the total number of stations currently on the
network to nine. WSHA, Shaw’s 50K-watt radio
station, WKTE in King, NC, which covers the Triad,
WRCS in Ahoskie and WELS in Kinston are the newest additions to
the network. WDEX in Charlotte, WFAY ESPN
Radio in Fayetteville, WEED in Rocky Mount, WPMH in Hampton
Roads/Richmond and WJRO in Baltimore/Washington,

Shaw Announces Five Stations on Network
The Shaw University Department of
Intercollegiate Athletics announces that it has completed
agreements with five radio stations, which will be a part of the
Shaw Bear Sports Radio Network. The stations are WDEX in Charlotte, WFAY ESPN Radio in
Fayetteville, WEED in Rocky Mount, WPMH in the Hampton
Roads/Richmond areas and WJRO in the Baltimore/Washington area.

Shaw Launches Shaw Bear Radio Network
The Shaw Department of Intercollegiate
Athletics has launched the Shaw Bear Sports Radio Network, which
will begin airing Shaw football games on August 28.
The network currently consists of 10 stations and Shaw
football games can be heard throughout the state of North
Carolina, most notably in the Triangle, Charlotte, the Triad
(Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem), Fayetteville, Rocky
Mount, Goldsboro and Eastern North Carolina.
The games can also be heard in other states including
Virginia, where games can be heard in the Hampton Roads area and
Richmond-Petersburg and in the Baltimore/Washington area.
The department will look into expanding the network for
the upcoming basketball season as well. Read
