Heritage Sports Radio Network Picks Shaw Top D-II HBCU

(Raleigh, NC) –  Heritage Radio Sports Network (HSRN) today announced that Shaw University was the unanimous choice for the top spot in their weekly poll.  Shaw collected all 16 first place votes. 

BASN and boxtorow.com ranked Shaw sixth in their poll of both Division I-FCS and Division II schools.  Shaw was the highest ranked D-II program in their poll and garnered one first place vote.  Sheridan Broadcasting ranked Shaw fifth in their poll, which also includes both Division I-FCS and Division II schools.  Shaw was the highest ranked D-II program.

The Bears earned the number one ranking after a 28-20 win over Concordia (AL) which brought their record to 3-0.  Shaw had previously beaten Elizabeth City State, and Division I’s Bethune-Cookman.

Shaw moved into the top spot a week ago after an impressive win over Bethune-Cookman.  The Bears had been ranked third pre-season, and second after the first week’s games.

The Bears travel to Lincoln (PA) for a game Saturday at 1:00 p.m.  Their next home game is October 3 against cross-town rival Saint Augustine’s at 1:00 p.m. at Millbrook High School Stadium.
