Shaw’s DeMarcus Roberson Named HSRN DII Player of the WeekDeMarcus Roberson (6-4, 260, So., Chapel Hill, NC)

(Raleigh, NC) –DeMarcus Roberson, defensive lineman for the Shaw Bears, was today named Heritage Sports Radio Network’s HBCU Division II Player of the Week. 

Roberson (6-4, 260, So., Chapel Hill, NC) recovered two fumbles - including one at the Shaw nine-yard line; had one half sack, four tackles and four assists in Shaw’s win over DI-FCS opponent Bethune-Cookman University.

Roberson was also named CIAA Defensive Lineman of the Week – the second straight week he has won that award.

After only two games, Roberson has nine solo tackles and ten assists, four tackles for a loss, one and a half sacks, and two recovered fumbles.  He is second, behind two-time CIAA Linebacker of the Week Frederick Sparkman, on the team in tackles.

Shaw University next hosts Concordia (AL) on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at Millbrook High School Stadium.
