Shaw Cross Country Teams Finish 7th and 9th at UNC-P Invitational

 (Raleigh, NC) –Shaw University’s women’s cross country team finished ninth, and the men’s team finished seventh at Saturday’s University of North Carolina-Pembroke’s Cross Country Invitational at Luther Britt Park in Pembroke, NC.

The Lady Bears finished with a total time of 2:42:37.53 for an average time of 32:31.51 over the six-kilometer course.  The highest finisher for the Lady Bears was Donchelle Florence (Jr., Raleigh, NC) who finished 35th with a time of29:13.21.  Ashley Bledsoe (Sr., Columbia, MD) was the second Lady Bears finisher with a time of 31:50.63. The men finished with a total time of 2:51:14.79 for an average of 34:14.96 over an eight-kilometer course.  Willie Stanley (So., Norfolk, VA) was Shaw University’s top men’s finisher at 22nd with a time of 29:44.48.   Craig Perkins (Jr., Hampton, VA) was the next highest Bear finisher with a time of 30:52.64 for 34th place.  [Men's Full Results]

 

The Bears and Lady Bears will next compete Wednesday, September 9 in Petersburg, VA at the Trojan Invitational.
